Our Beginning
From Family Kitchen to San Antonio Legend
The story of Cabana Taco begins in 2009, born from a deep love of authentic taco cabana culture and the vibrant culinary traditions of San Antonio, Texas. What started as a family passion for bold, fresh Mexican flavors quickly became a neighborhood staple — and then a city-wide phenomenon.
Our founder, Maria Reyes, grew up watching her grandmother craft hand-pressed tortillas every morning before dawn. Those memories of warm masa, smoky meats and the laughter of family gathered around the table became the soul of everything we do at Cabana Taco.
Today, the tacocabana spirit lives on in every dish we serve. We remain committed to sourcing fresh, local ingredients and preparing everything from scratch — because real flavor cannot be rushed, faked or mass-produced.

2009
The First Taco Stand
Maria Reyes opens a small taco stand at the San Antonio Farmers Market, serving her grandmother's family recipes. Lines wrap around the block every weekend.
2012
Cabana Taco Opens Its Doors
After three years of building a loyal following, the first permanent Cabana Taco restaurant opens on Loop 1604 in San Antonio — the home it still occupies today.
2015
Catering & Events Launch
Growing demand leads us to launch our full-service catering division, bringing the authentic taco cabana experience to weddings, corporate events and private parties.
2018
Best Restaurant Award
